Our Story

It all started with a walk, literally.

Fresh out of high school and full of dreams, took his friends from Kolkata on a trek to Neora Valley National Park in the upper reaches of Kalimpong about 13 years ago. They walked for five days through the pristine Himalayan forests, home to the elusive red panda offering spectacular views of Mt Kanchenjunga.

By the end of the trip, a dream was born. The happiness Oshan saw in his friends' eyes, he now wanted to spread to others. He decided he would help people travel-to explore the unknown; to connect with nature and their own deeper selves.

The next three years he spent on equipping himself with more in-depth knowledge of the region and gaining hands-on experience in tourism service providing basically all those things that he would need to become a responsible tour operator. In 2013, Himalayan Tours and Treks was born.

The travel agency operated out of a modest office in his hometown Malbazar, a town in the tea-growing region of Dooars in the Himalayan foothills. The motto was simple: travel consciously. The idea was not just to make people come and see new places, but also travel responsibly, with a deep sense of awareness and purpose. The goal was to promote a travel that is in keeping with the global sustainability goals.

In 2018, Himalayan Tours and Treks donned on a new avatar - Aadrik Holidays. Aadrik, in Sanskrit, means the sun raising between the mountains. Given our close connection to the mighty Himalayas, we adopted that as our new name.

Over the years, we have specialised in carefully-curated tours to east and northeast region (Darjeeling, Kaimpong, Dooars, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nepal & Bhutan). Apart from general interest tours, we also offer bespoke tours such as bird-watching, adventure, heritage, photography and rural culture. Our tours are tailored to suit the needs of the travellers.

Our operations have expanded to include India’s eastern and north eastern regions too. Today, we have offices in Malbazar and Siliguri,and operational offices in every states where we organise or operate tours and also we have to separate branches in Sweden & Bangladesh.
